Only humans – Weekly Prompts: People

This weekend GC and SueW have chosen th following as the theme for their challenge.

Our Weekend Photo Challenge here on Weekly Prompts is PEOPLE!
Whenever GC and I sit down awhile to enjoy a cuppa in a cafe, we cannot resist gazing out of the window and watching people going about their daily lives. We look for the unusual and take notice of the little details, anything that might offer a clue about those who have gained our attention.
What about you, are you like us, do you enjoy people watching – You do? In that case, show us your pictures and tell us about it.

Now I do enjoy people watching, I used to do it a lot, and what I saw used to end up in my songs, however I do not take a vast number of photos of people.  There are photos at weddings, of days out with friends, and the occasional portrait.  there are very few of strangers caught unaware, people tend to be the things getting in the way rather than the subject in my photos.  Here is one taken at the Roald Dahl weekend in Cardiff, are the people in the way?  Maybe not in this photo but they are not really the subject either!  In this crop the little girl may be the subject, but in the portrait shot taken it is the book tree.

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”
― Roald Dahl

However below is the first photo I took with my a6000, apart from the random deletions, and is at Bakewell day of dance, of a group of dancers that had just finished a session before we were due to teach.  Strangers caught in a moment of joy.

Petals in Pink – A Photo a Week Challenge – Pink

This week Nancy has challenged us with the topic of ‘Pink’.

So here are a couple of photos, the first of that great pink and white cat ‘Bagpuss’, originally destined to be ginger and white, but we are all so glad he ended up pink.  A very fond childhood memory, rendered here in flower petals by the 1st Bakewell brownies.

And the second of a lovely pink lily that grabbed my attention in the garden of the house where we recorded our album for Kantref.

I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.  – Audrey Hepburn

Dancing boats and trees – V.J.’S Weekly Challenge #34 – Reaching.

For this weeks challenge V.J. asks us:

What is it you are reaching for? Maybe it’s a lens drawn (as mine often is) to line that stretches… or is it something stirring behind your words?

This week, let’s follow our instincts, or impulses, and try to capture that for which we are reaching.

Well I reached out to the archives for this one.  My first picture of A boat in Portreath harbor, with chains reaching out to seemingly constrain, but only to keep it safe.  This is the way we so often treat ourselves, we just need to remember that sometimes it is safe to be without our chains holding us back.

And the second photo, taken at Bakewell day of dance, of dancers who have definitely let go of their constraints for the day and are reaching out to each other and to us.

And finally to complement V.J.’s post, this tree at Knightshayes Court, majestic reaching to the sky.
