Monumental thoughts and photographs. – Weekly Prompts: Cover

This weekend GC and SueW have chosen the following as the theme for their challenge.

This weekend the Photo Challenge here on Weekly Prompts is Cover.

Imagine for a moment that you are writing a book and the publisher has asked for a Cover Picture. What will you choose?

Well I can think of a number of entrants for this one, but I think that the below is the most likely to ever become real.

Monumental thoughts and photographs.

I had fun doing this 🙂

Pick and read! – Photo for the Week – 41 – Books

This week Bren challenged us with:

The theme for this week is Books.

So a Photo I have used before, of some of the shelves in our house, but edited in a new way.  It is sometimes hard to choose what book to read next, I live in a house surrounded by books, I work with books, and sometimes the choose seems daunting, indeed I sometimes walk through a literary desert where I do not read for a few weeks! In fact I am thirsty, and parched now, this is something that stresses my wife out :).  But then I will return to the  haven of the pages sometimes immersing myself in the safety of 2 or 3 imagined worlds at a time, or the imagined truth of ‘fact’. However it is easy to slip from thirst to drowning, to loose oneself entirely, and I cannot swim! Sometimes I need to come to the surface and breathe.

Trees – Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Books and Paper

This week Cee challenges us with – Books and Paper

A small selection of the trees that have become books and paper in our house 🙂  I have used a similar photo for this blog before, but it was too good an opportunity to miss using a different shot! This is downstairs where a lot of the fiction lives.

Grass chairs – Kammie’s Oddball Challenge: July 18, 2019

Each week Kammie challenges us to post an oddball photo:

Odd Ball Photos are those great photos that you take which really don’t seem to fit into a common category.  We’ve all taken them and like them, because we just can’t hit delete and get rid of them.

I was in two minds if I should post this for the pull up a seat challenge, but in the end it was just too odd not to post here!

Only humans – Weekly Prompts: People

This weekend GC and SueW have chosen th following as the theme for their challenge.

Our Weekend Photo Challenge here on Weekly Prompts is PEOPLE!
Whenever GC and I sit down awhile to enjoy a cuppa in a cafe, we cannot resist gazing out of the window and watching people going about their daily lives. We look for the unusual and take notice of the little details, anything that might offer a clue about those who have gained our attention.
What about you, are you like us, do you enjoy people watching – You do? In that case, show us your pictures and tell us about it.

Now I do enjoy people watching, I used to do it a lot, and what I saw used to end up in my songs, however I do not take a vast number of photos of people.  There are photos at weddings, of days out with friends, and the occasional portrait.  there are very few of strangers caught unaware, people tend to be the things getting in the way rather than the subject in my photos.  Here is one taken at the Roald Dahl weekend in Cardiff, are the people in the way?  Maybe not in this photo but they are not really the subject either!  In this crop the little girl may be the subject, but in the portrait shot taken it is the book tree.

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”
― Roald Dahl

However below is the first photo I took with my a6000, apart from the random deletions, and is at Bakewell day of dance, of a group of dancers that had just finished a session before we were due to teach.  Strangers caught in a moment of joy.

Home is where the books are – Sunday Stills – For the Love of #Reading and #Books

This week Teri has challenged us with:

Today, April 7 marks the beginning of National Library Week! This week’s Sunday Stills theme is “For the Love of Reading and Books.”

So it is fair to say that we are a household full of books, can you have too many? Well maybe not enough self space.  Below is a photo of some of the many bookcases in our house.  As you can see it is not just books that we hoard!
