Memories of a day out – Friday Foto Fun: Reflections

For this weeks Friday Foto Fun we have been asked:

Please share how, where, why you ‘reflect’ in a photo, poem or story?

Editing photos of a day out I often reflect on what we did on that day, a smile twitching at the side of my lips as I add layers, subtly altering the memories of the day.  And sometimes I reflect upon the memory of a reflection.

Warm when it is cold – Sunday Stills – #Warmth

This week Teri has challenged us with:

The theme “warmth” for this week’s Sunday Stills photo challenge conjures a variety of ideas.

Whenever we visit gardens I enjoy visiting the greenhouses, and looking at what my wife refers to as the ‘Ken plants’, that would be succulents and cacti.  I am always amazed that we can grow them in the UK!  The difference in temperature outside a greenhouse to that inside can sometimes be a shock, especially in early spring, when we might have been walking around gazing at new shoots, buds, and early flowers wearing our warm coats.

Italianate, hazy, entrance – A Photo a Week Challenge: Sunshine

This week Nancy has challenged us with the topic of ‘Sunshine’, saying:

So a few photos where the sunshine could have made, or broke the photos.  Shooting into the sun, sometimes you just have to do it.

A Japanese man reading on an Oxen

Last week for Kamie’s oddball challenge I posted this picture:

Kamie wondered what the back story was, so here is a very brief synopsis.  It is a bronze sculpture and it is of a man dressed in a traditional Japanese travelling costume, he is sitting on the back of an ox, and reads a book while he travels.

It depicts either the statesman and scholar Sugawara no Michizane (845-903) or the itinerant Buddhist priest and poet Botanka Shōhaku (1443-1527).  It is suggested that Takamura Kōun (1852-1934) is the sculptor.  The sculpture was donated to Dyffryn gardens by Grenville Morgan in 1951.

And here are a few other photos I have taken of this sculpture.
