Reborn tides and Tidal spirits – Friendly Friday: Ebb and Flow

This Friday, ‘The Snow Melts Somewhere’ and ‘Something to Ponder About’ have challenged us with:

Publish a ‘Friendly Friday – Ebb and Flow,’ post

I have used this photo before, for a different challenge, however I thought I would re-edit it, and thus this image itself takes on a certain ebb and flow as it is reborn.  A tidal river shaped by the ebb and flow of water over the years.

I thought I would also add this one, not only because it contains the ebb and flow between life and death, the humans who have been christened, married, have worshipped, and been buried here.  But also the ebb and flow of a religion, the old abbey, the ‘new’ church.

2 grey ladies – Friendly Friday: Twins

This Friday, ‘The Snow Melts Somewhere’ and ‘Something to Ponder About’ have challenged us with:

the theme for Friendly Friday this week is Twins.

There are actually more than 2 stones in this circle, but I thought this photo of two of them fit the bill.  They are made of the same things, but shaped by hands and weather so that they look different, yet still I believe they share a common purpose, they are the same inside, sisters forever standing against the rigours of the world.  Only four stones remain of what once was a 45-foot circle of stones. The stones are the tallest in Derbyshire, they are sometimes known as the grey ladies.

… skies the limit, be sublime, fluffy or grey … please share that!

Well no food to tantalise you or make your stomach grumble this week.  I love a good cloudy sky in my photos, so here is one from last year while we were on holiday in Dumfries and Galloway, the skies were just amazing the entire time we were there!  So a 4 photo panoramic stitch for you this week.

Cream tease – Friday Fun: Construction

For this weeks Friday Fun we have been asked:

Please share ‘construction’ in a photo, poem or story?

Hmm so last week I used a photo of ice cream, and this week it will be a cream tea, you are all going to think all I do is eat!  We went strawberry picking, we had no scones, but welsh cakes were a good substitution, don’t call me a heretic, and lets not get onto the whole topic of – Jam or cream first!  Of course in my opinion the object of the game is to get a ‘healthy’ dollop of clotted cream.  Just like making a perfect cuppa, there is something I enjoy about the motions, the ritual of assembling, constructing, a cream tea.  And of course it is about eating them :).

Memories of a day out – Friday Foto Fun: Reflections

For this weeks Friday Foto Fun we have been asked:

Please share how, where, why you ‘reflect’ in a photo, poem or story?

Editing photos of a day out I often reflect on what we did on that day, a smile twitching at the side of my lips as I add layers, subtly altering the memories of the day.  And sometimes I reflect upon the memory of a reflection.

Indulgence – Friday Foto Fun: Luxury

For this weeks Friday Foto Fun we have been asked:

Please share your version of luxury in a photo, poem or story?

A little luxury that we often indulge in while on holiday, or when we have a day out is to have an ice cream.  It has become common practice over on facebook to post pictures of my wife holding the ‘ice cream of the day’, something we started doing nine years ago while on honeymoon.  Flavours are listed, we try them so you do not have to, (you can if you want), the oddest flavours have to have been ‘Irn Bru’ and ‘Newcastle brown ale’, not together I hasten to add!

So a photo taken in Cornwall, featuring the lush ‘Moomaid’ icecream, and I think the flavours were, salted caramel, and blackberry sorbet.

Last – Friday Foto Fun: Mythical

For this weeks Friday Foto Fun we have been asked:

Please share are mythical photo, poem or story?

While actually a real historical person and not a ‘mythic’ character, I decided to use this photo of the statue of ‘Llywelln ap Gruffudd’ taken on our recent trip through Llandovery, it was created by sculptors Toby and Gideon Petersen and has stood on the castle mound above the town since 2001, the 600th anniversary of his death.

While a real person there are obviously many myths that surround him, and he has of course featured in several historical fictional novels.

Standing watching – Friday Foto Fun: Moody

For this weeks Friday Foto Fun we have been asked:

Please share are moody pic, poem or story?

I love moody skies, though it usually means rain is never far away, which in turn makes me moody when we are on holiday visiting ancient sites, and walking in the wilds.  So here is a moody sky for you, did it rain – probably!
