Here lie Vikings – Tuesday Photo Challenge – Back Catalog

This week Frank challenges us with the topic:

As often happens, when I start going through the archives, I find something that I just might want to treat in a different manner… That led me to the theme for this week: Back Catalog.

The image below, reworked for this post always catches my attention, taken with the old Dimage Z3, taken on the first day of our honeymoon , this picture always grabs my attention. Not from any great sense of compositional skill, but the subject matter.  These are recreated Viking grave markers in a church that if I remember rightly was somewhere near Greystoke.  I remember suddenly being overtaken by the sense that my wife and I were embarking on a new journey, but all around were the signs that our ancestors were watching over us, I was overcome with a feeling of contentment, not the usual feeling I get when I visit a graveyard!

Reborn tides and Tidal spirits – Friendly Friday: Ebb and Flow

This Friday, ‘The Snow Melts Somewhere’ and ‘Something to Ponder About’ have challenged us with:

Publish a ‘Friendly Friday – Ebb and Flow,’ post

I have used this photo before, for a different challenge, however I thought I would re-edit it, and thus this image itself takes on a certain ebb and flow as it is reborn.  A tidal river shaped by the ebb and flow of water over the years.

I thought I would also add this one, not only because it contains the ebb and flow between life and death, the humans who have been christened, married, have worshipped, and been buried here.  But also the ebb and flow of a religion, the old abbey, the ‘new’ church.

From these clouds I gently weep. – K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge: Seraphic; Diaphanous; Immutable!.

Each week, K’lee and Dale offer  prompts for us to consider as the latest challenge.  This week it was K’lee with:

I tried something different- a three part/possibility prompt:

SERAPHIC

DIAPHANOUS

IMMUTABLE

Now, as with all our challenges, Dale and I typically leave the interpretation and execution up to you the challenge participants. In other words, it’s not necessary to take on all three words unless you are feeling so inclined.

Well I tried my best to get all three words into this one image, I would like to say that was why I was late with the post, but I was just pretty busy this weekend!  So I will leave it to you to decide how I interperated the words, though if you take a look over at K’lee and Dale’s sites you will easily see the comparisons.

Each week sonofabeach96 challenges us with the following:

This Which Way challenge is all about capturing the roads, walks, trails, rails, steps, signs, etc. we move from one place to another on.  You can walk on them, climb them, drive them, ride on them, as long as the specific way is visible.  Any angle of a bridge is acceptable as are any signs.

I think we used the gate!
