Elements – Lens Artists Photo Challenge #47 – Five Elements

This week we are challenged us with:

This week you have an opportunity to interpret metal, wood, water, fire, and/or earth with your favorite photos to express “…the only home we’ve ever known”. Feel free to choose one, two… or all five elements.

Ok so I had a think about how I might manage to get away with one photo for this weeks challenge, but try as I might I only managed three or four of the Chinese elements in one photo.

Oh well, so I have decided to use a photo taken at Sandymouth bay in Cornwall, I have used this location before for some posts, it is very photogenic, especially at sunset.  So here is the photo and a short explanation.

So the sun as Fire, the sea and waterfall as Water, the cliffs, pebbles and sand count as the Earth.  Now this is where it gets a bit hazy!  The camera used to take the photo has metal components, and I know that that pebble beach has driftwood on it, you just cannot see it in this photo.  Can I get away with that?

Rock and Rolling in – Tuesday Photo Challenge: Roll.

Well this week Frank challenges us with the topic ‘Roll’:

Of course, after a week of Rocking entries, you fully expected that we’d Roll into this week! Yes, I gave into the temptation of using Rock and Roll in consecutive weeks. As Roll can take a number of meanings, you can roll the dice to select the one you want to use. Whether a bread roll, a bed roll, or a ball rolling down the hill, I look forward to see what wonderful ideas come rolling in this week!

So following on from the second of the two rock photos I used last week, I thought I would use another photo from that set, it includes that same rock, but this time we see more of the waves ‘roll’-ing in.

Rock face – Tuesday Photo Challenge – Rock.

Well this week Frank challenges us with the topic ‘Wonder’:

In case you wondered, last week’s contributions were absolutely wonderful! To put it simply: all of you Rock!! Which leads me to this week’s theme: Rock

So having a look back through some old photos I found this one.  It is a carving down on the beach in Tintagel.

And also from the same day, a favourite rock to photograph at Sandymouth bay, it would actually be quite hard not to get it in a shot.

Water worn – Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge – Smooth

For this weeks Fun Foto Challenge Cee gives us the topic of ‘Smooth’.

I love the way pebbles are worn smooth by the sea, so here is a shot taken at Sandymouth Bay last year.

And another of some smooth stone balancing at Amroth beach.  However I have to admit that it is the texture of last week that makes this possible rather that the apparent smoothness of the stones.
