Otherworld – Tuesday Photo Challenge – Fantasy

This week Frank has challenged us with the topic:

Your challenge is to use the theme of Fantasy and take it into your choice of creative directions; be it an image of your fantasy location, a fantasy that is in your mind, or whatever speaks fantasy to you!

Well this is the sort of thing that is going on inside my mind when I visit these ancient sites anyway, so a photo to echo my feelings.

Coast from Coast – Tuesday Photo Challenge – Coast

This week Frank has challenged us with the topic:

So this week, your challenge is to find a Coast and share your impressions of it, or simply Coast along in your automobile and enjoy the countryside floating by.

I have mentioned several times that when we go to Cornwall we sometimes like to stay in a vegetarian B&B called Coast.  So here is a photo of the Coast in Cornwall, taken from the window of the Coast B&B, a 2 photo stitch.

Penwith sunset – Tuesday Photo Challenge – Sunset

Last Tuesday Frank challenged us with the topic:

For this challenge, please share your favorite sunset moments, whether they are at the beach, at the city or over the mountains. I’m very much looking forward to seeing your images here.

A favourite sunset because it would mean we were in West Penwith, Cornwall, travelling along that marvellous stretch of mystical road between St. Ives and St. Just. A 4 photo stitch.

Here lie Vikings – Tuesday Photo Challenge – Back Catalog

This week Frank challenges us with the topic:

As often happens, when I start going through the archives, I find something that I just might want to treat in a different manner… That led me to the theme for this week: Back Catalog.

The image below, reworked for this post always catches my attention, taken with the old Dimage Z3, taken on the first day of our honeymoon , this picture always grabs my attention. Not from any great sense of compositional skill, but the subject matter.  These are recreated Viking grave markers in a church that if I remember rightly was somewhere near Greystoke.  I remember suddenly being overtaken by the sense that my wife and I were embarking on a new journey, but all around were the signs that our ancestors were watching over us, I was overcome with a feeling of contentment, not the usual feeling I get when I visit a graveyard!

Dejected – Tuesday Photo Challenge – Tourism

This week Frank challenged us with the topic:

I thought that it might be interesting to scour my photos from the frequent travels to the Netherlands for some more material. As a result, I thought that Tourism might be an apt theme for this week!

I feel the mermaid looks a little dejected in this photo, like so many other tourist spots, this was filled with people taking the ubiquitous selfie.  Spare a thought for the feelings of the mermaid, she was once the sole object of peoples focus, and slowly she became the background to peoples shots, a smiling family, recorded for posterity with their childhood story. Now she is relegated to the out of focus fuzzy celebrity that people want to be seen with, the focus squarely on themselves, in the search for the cult of self.

‘Dejected’, Copenhagen, 2017.

Slow down, take time, spare a thought for others around you. This Thursday it was #World Mental Health Day, we all need a little help sometimes, the struggles people face are not always black and white, they are mostly invisible, spare a thought for others, spare time for yourself.

Burial stones – Tuesday Photo Challenge – Stone

This week Frank challenges us with the topic:

After a week of fuzzy logic, images and beings, I thought it might be a good time to turn to something a bit more permanent. So, I cam to think of Stone as a theme

Well you could probably guess that it was going to be something like the below from me!

Post – Tuesday Photo Challenge – Focus

This week Frank challenges us with the topic:

The challenge for you is to take focus into your preferred direction. There are many ways that you can take this: in focus, out of focus, a look of focus on someone’s face, you name it! Let your creative minds wander happily and keep your focus on the theme!

Falling – One word Sunday Challenge: Triangle & Tuesday Photo Challenge – Fall

This week Debbie has challenged us with the following:

Welcome to One Word Sunday, and over to all of you to join the challenge with your own triangle post.

Heed the warning!

‘Triangle’, Hells Mouth, Cornwall, 2019.Falling

However I thought I would also use the above for this weeks challenge from Frank:

After a week of living the City life, I think it’s time to go back to Nature for this week’s theme. As Autumn approaches in the Norther Hemisphere, I thought it might be interesting to go for a theme that riffs on that concept with Fall. In the American version of the English language the season of Autumn is often called Fall. What I like about this theme is that the word fall can be taken into other directions, from trip and fall to Victoria Falls and many stops in between.
