Challenge: Friendly Friday Challenge
Topic: Unusual
Well I somehow missed last weeks challenge, but for the week before that I had posted a picture of a ‘pink’ (mostly magenta) foxglove. However on a morning walk this week I found this foxglove, very pink, and not at all the colour that I usually see in the wild!

Pretty pink foxglove. They are a stunning flower I wish I could grew here.

I do love them, but it is also tinged with that slight fear of them that comes from having grown up in the countryside and being told “Don’t touch, they will kill you!”.

Are they poisonous? I never knew that!

Digitalis. drug. Digitalis, drug obtained from the dried leaves of the common foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) and used in medicine to strengthen contractions of the heart muscle.
And of course where it can be used to help . . .

Ah Digoxin!! I used to dispense it as a Nurse. Saw so many in Scandinavia and didn’t think of the connection. I do remember that connection with foxglove now you say it. Thanks for clarifying.
